Topics for the March 16th debate:

NJ drivers should be able to pump their own gas.

 

Video games cause more harm than good.

 

Students should not have to pay to participate in extra-curricular activities.

 

The US should guarantee a free college education to all citizens.

 

The Olympic Games do more good than harm.

Wednesday, January 23rd is the last practice before our debate on Saturday.  Please bring all your notes as you will be trying out your debating skills.  Remind your parents that the debate tournament is at

We encourage your parents to attend the tournament.  We also need high school students, age 16 and up, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends to get trained as judges.  Training takes place at the tournament, but more information can be found at Middle School Public Debate Program
Mrs. Burek and Mrs. Hoffman can also answer any questions.

We go back to school on Wednesday, January 2nd and have debate practice after school until 4:15.   Bring your notes and articles.  We might try a practice debate or two. Look back over recent posts on the blog for topics.

DEBATE PRACTICE
Wednesday, December 19th 2:45-4:15

Be sure you have 2 or 3 points for both Prop and Opp for all 5 topics.
You can type them or hand write them.  Just bring them on Wed. 
Let Mrs. Burek or Mrs. Hoffman know if you can't make it to practice.

January 26th 2013 Debate @ Clifton T. Barkalow Middle School (Freehold)

Yes, it is at Barkalow.  Your permission slips say Red Bank, but we are going to Freehold.

Practice: Wednesdays after school 

            December 12th and 19th

            January 2nd, 9th, 16th, and  23rd

Pick up at 4:15 at the main office

Get a permission slip from Mrs. Burek or Mrs. Hoffman.

Ban energy drinks.

FEMA’s responsibilities should be handed over to the states.

The caste system was good for Indian Society.

Wikipedia does more good than harm.

The United States should not expand drilling for oil off the East Coast.
